June 6, 2006 - Cure Lab initiates a product development program:
M2 protein of influenza virus is a conserved protein present in a wide variety of viral strains. It is exposed on the surface of both freely floating virus as well as host cells infected with influenza virus. M2 protein has been viewed as a desirable vaccination target for several years. Cure Lab has identified the mechanism that has thus far prevented M2 from being instrumental for vaccination. The company has initiated a program consisting of two mutually complementary projects aimed at modifying M2 protein of influenza virus in order to generate an M2 mutant efficient as a vaccine component. Scientists from Harvard Medical School and Boston University are consulting on the program. |
